7th Tokyo International Conference Comes To An End

The Tokyo International Conference on African Development, TICAD 7 has ended in Yokohama, Japan.

Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe declared the conference which was attended by various world leaders, closed on Friday.

It was centred on economic transformation and improvements in business environment and institution through private investment and innovation; promotion of resilient and sustainable African society for human security, as well as peace and stability in support of Africa’s domestic proactive efforts.

During the conference, Abe called for the adoption of the “Yokohama Declaration” and the “Yokohama plan of action” which was agreed to.

He said he was optimistic that there would be “productive and meaningful outcomes” following discussions in TICAD 7.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari had, in his presentation on Thursday, promised to launch the “Japan-Nigeria business facilitation council” when he returns to Abuja.
