An activist lawyer on Saturday, stated that the agitation for Biafra is more than a half century demand by the people of the South East, Igbo speaking communities and some global citizens.

He described the movement as well beyond Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and self-exiled Biafra Prime Minister, Simon Ekpa who is now in the Nigerian Government wanted list.

The activist lawyer simply known as Idam said the agitation for the sovereign state of Biafra is a spirit that resonates in every Igbo man.

In a DAILY POST chat, monitored by Darling FM Owerri, Idam said that a lot of people in the Southeast might not be comfortable with Kanu and Ekpa’s style of agitation.

Recall that Kanu has been locked up by the Department of State Services, DSS, since June 2021 when he was arrested in Kenya and repatriated to Nigeria.

While in detention, insecurity in the South-east has escalated with gunmen on the prowl.

Kanu was quoted as saying that he is now ready to engage the Federal Government of Nigeria in discussions, apparently to ensure his release in addition to several calls made by Igbo and prominent world leaders for him to be released.
