Inhabitants of Owerri, the state capital of Imo State, have resorted to trekking distances, lamenting the continuous rise in the pump price of premium motor spirit to N1000, leading to transportation cost to a minimum of N400 per drop.
As at press time, some commercial bus drivers, particularly the Keke bus drivers have temporarily halted their services within the metropolis over the uncontrollable rise in the price of fuel in Owerri and commuters have deliberately distanced themselves from using the services of these keke bus drivers due to costs.
Investigations by DARLING FM revealed that the development has prompted corporate organisations and government own establishments to reduce working hours and days, with workers resuming work twice or trice a week.
