Fifa best player: Messi omitted as Cristiano, Modric and Salah makes final three

Lionel Messi missed out of the final three man list for the Fifa Best player award released on Monday for the first time since 2006, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner who notched 45 goals and helped his Barcelona team to secure two domestic titles was surprisingly left out also there was no place for any member of France’s World Cup winning squad.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah are the finalists for Best Fifa Men’s Player award for 2018 with the winner set to be announced on September 24 at Royal Festival Hall in London
Portugal forward Ronaldo, won a fifth Champions League title with Real Madrid in May before joining Juventus for £99.2m.
Real midfielder Luka Modric was named the World Cup 2018 player of the tournament as Croatia reached the final which they lost to France in Russia.
Egypt forward Mohammed Salah scored 44 goals as Liverpool reached the Champions League final losing to Real Madrid.
Last week Luka Modric won the Uefa Men’s Player of the Year beating Ronaldo and Salah for the individual award.
