Enyimba international lost 1-0 at home to Raja Casablanca of Morocco in a CAF Confederation Cup semifinal first leg match on Wednesday
Abdelilah Hafidi was the hero for Raja Casablanca after his 48 minute strike, drived through the legs of goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai.
In the 65 minute Moroccan defender handled the ball inside the box, but Stanley Dimgba failed to drew Enyimba level when he blasted his penalty way off target.
Spanish 49 year old Juan Carlos Garrido, the coach of Raja Casablanca said after the match that they studied the Enyimba team very well and that helped them a lot in the encounter.
He said “ obviously for us it was a very difficult match, very difficult travelling, very difficult conditions for us to arrive for this game, the last three days we were travelling by bus by plane, by hotels, sometimes late for training, but the reactions of the team is to come here and play a brave match all our respect goes to Enyimba our opponent because we were working hard knowing they have the quality to suffer our team and that’s why my players stayed very focused physically, running, playing in a brave way, tactical organization, throwing everything because we knew the quality Enyimba possesses, now it’s the first part of the match there is still another part of the match and we have to stay focused because we want to get into the finals so the next match is very important for us, he concluded.
The return leg will be played on October 24 in Casablanca with the overall winner advancing to the final of the continental club competition.
