Calabar residents, living next to hotels in Cross River State capital, have raised alarm over alleged rape of girls between 12 and 15 years on a daily basis.
Accusing fingers pointed at the hotels located in Nkese Effiong Street, next to the Federal Correctional Centre in the Afokang area of Calabar.
Residents in the area who want their names withheld, said some of girls are lucked in these hotels after the Police raided one of the hotels for the second time in one month.
Another eyewitness who live in the area confirmed that the Police raid was a thing of joy to the entire neighbourhood, but hope that other law enforcement agencies should take their lamentations serious.
Meanwhile, the DPO of the Police Division in the Mbukpa area confirmed that the manager of one of the hotels in the area is in their custody.
In one of the Press Conferences in Calabar with the Commissioner of Police in the state, Gyogen Grimah, he confirmed that the DPO in-charge of the area is handling the case of illicit activities of hotel proprietors, particularly the numerous cases of underage girls’ rape.
