IMO 2027: MBAISE ENDORSES CHARTER OF EQUITY THAT GUARANTEES OWERRI ZONE’S TURN AFTER UZODINMA

The people of Mbaise under the umbrella of Ezuruezu Mbaise have supported the Imo Charter of Equity as formulated by Imo Council of Elders as long as it guarantees Owerri Zone, taking it’s turn after Governor Hope Uzodinma who incidentally comes from Orlu Zone.

In a statement signed by Ezuruezu Mbaise President General Surveyor Joe Ogbonna Anosike, Secretary General Ano Anyanwu and Public Relations Officer Christian Nwokocha, Mbaise said that her people will always support a political model that guarantees equity and fairness in Imo State.

The apex socio-cultural group revealed that on November 2, 2023, Ezuruezu Mbaise executives were in Government House Owerri for a Special Meeting with the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, during which the President General of Ezuruezu Mbaise, Sir (Surv). Joe Ogbonna Anosike called on the Governor to support and handover to a governor from Owerri Zone at the end of his second term in office.

The group said that the people of Mbaise relies on Imo Charter of Equity formulated by the Imo State Elders Council and adopted by The Imo State House of Assembly by a Special resolution and in consideration of peace and harmony across the three Senatorial Zones of Imo State.

It went further, stating that Imo Charter of Equity having been officially accepted by the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, and in consideration of political developments in Imo State thereafter, Mbaise people resolved to continue to show solidarity to the Governor and appreciate the concrete actions and programs of the Government of Imo State led by His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Ezuruezu Mbaise declared it’s support for the Governor’s public statement and commitment that he will handover to Owerri Zone at the end of his second term in office.

“That Ndi Mbaise appreciates His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma for his overt readiness to abide by the Imo Charter of Equity and his desire to have a Governor from Owerri Zone to succeed him.

“That Ndi Mbaise supports and appreciates the resolution made on May 31, 2024 by the Orlu Zonal Chapter of the Imo State Council of Ndi Eze during their meeting held at Eze Imo Palace, Mbari Street Owerri wherein they resolved to “stand with their son Governor Hope Uzodimma on his position on the Imo Charter of Equity which rotates governorship to Owerri zone in 2027”, and “That all governorship aspirants outside Owerri zone should wait for their turn after Owerri Zone”
