JUST IN: Again, unknown gunmen attack Anambra Police Station, one killed

Unknown gunmen early Thursday morning launched an attack on Nteje Divisional headquarters, in the Oyi Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.
In a statement by the Anambra State Command, obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA, police said one of the attackers was gunned down.
“The Police Operatives decisively dealt with the assailants. One of the gunmen was neutralised while the other gang members fled the scene.
“The station was secured and all police operatives and arms are intact.
“The CP (Echeng Echeng), while reiterating that the Command will not relent in delivering on its mandate on the protection of life and properties, commended the officers and men of the Command for their perseverance and painstaking efforts to weed out all criminal elements in the State,” the police’s statement reads.
Thursday’s attack in Anambra state is the latest violence in the southeast region where separatist violence is on the rise. Security agents, as well as locals have been killed by the lawbreakers.
