SECURITY OPERATIVES IN NIGERIA INTERCEPT ZAMFARA BOUND ARMS FROM NIGER REPUBLIC INTENDED FOR TERRORISTS

TROOPS
Troops of the 1 Brigade, under Operation FANSAN YANMA and in collaboration with the Department of State Services, DSS, have successfully intercepted a Zamfara bound weapons allegedly intended for terrorist groups in the state.

The operation, conducted within January 26 and 27, was based on credible intelligence concerning suspected arms dealers operating from Niger Republic.

Acting on this information, the troops launched a covert mission to track the suspects.

The interception occurred along the Kaura Namoda-Zurmi Road, where the suspects attempted to evade capture by diverting their vehicle into the bush.

Following a brief engagement with the troops, the suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled.

search of the vehicle revealed a cache of weapons, including two PKT machine guns, nine AK-47 rifles, 13 magazines, 171 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and nine rounds of PKT ammunition
